Acrylic in the UK isn't widely used, i do know of a supplier but it's highly expensive, i did see someone with a 7 x 4 tank made out of acrylic and it was very nice, i've been quoted before and it was a few K more than what i paid for this.
You will really enjoy that footprint, i've 30" tall but i'd certainly say another 6" would make a huge difference, i was governed by windows though.. obstructing light would have been an issue.

Looks good. I think adding those supports to the stand was a smart move. That's a long span to leave unsupported under all that weight.
It's interesting how it seems like all large tanks outside of the US are made out of glass. Are there any acrylic aquarium manufacturers in your area?
