Been searching for months to get one of these guys, none of the lfs around here seem to have them but today I was lucky!! Little dude was hiding behind some pvc and I almost missed him!!

Right now he's in a *tiny* 10g aquarium but once his QT time is over he's moving into a 55 (might have to divide it if my oscar disagrees) then we are making a 600-700g pond for him to live in. I'm so excited!!!! Going to try to feed him some bloodworms later...skinny little thing, and looks like he's got some minor gill curl on his right side, but I can't complain, I have an rtc now!!! :naughty:

Awe i remember when mine was that big. Couldn't even eat one of those tiny massivore pellets had to break them up for him. Lol. That was only 2 and a half months ago Now he's 10"! Congrats on ur rtc I started mine in a 10gal 2 with a emp 400 and a few emp 20gal hob filters. Just do lots of water changes. I did Bout 30% a day, helps them grow faster. And it should get rid of that gill curl. Again congrats, better start saving up on frozen talipia fillets. And tell that cat to be careful in 6 months it's liable to eaten getting that close. Lol

Ah yes, Daisy, my land cat decided to check out the latest whiskered denizen of the household...she's never tried to catch any of my fish, seems content with just watching them. ;) The RTC colored up to a nice dark black (no pix yet) in the tank, and just ate a bunch of bloodworms ...he is now a fat rtc :D

Vid of him before feeding:

the best part is the curious cat.

I always loved the RTC but don't have a pond to move him when he gets too large. So i went with a tig...congtaz on your pick up

Nice pickup ,Here is what I feed my tribe ,all from the grocery store so the price is not too bad, frozen raw shrimp, smelt, tilapia, scallopes. They did not like the basa fillet. I have also found that shopping right after a holiday the stuff is sometimes cheaper. Earthworms are good too if you can get them from a chemical free location. Good luck and keep us posted..

Nice rtc... in a matter of weeks he will grow from 2'' to 5''.

i just watched the video.
he's utterly magnificent.
i'm so dam jealous, illegal for me i believe *wipes away tear*
