finally ordering bichirs. finally

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If the ansorgiis are coming in smaller than 7". More than likely it'll be a CB AnsorgiixEndli hybrid.

If this is the first time buying fish online, I really would start somewhere else than Toyin. Love the guys fish but hard to nail him down and for a new person this may be a tough situation.

My suggestion is The Wet Spot or Uncle Neds. Both will have good customer service and for the first time buyer that feeling that everything is going well. lol

I have to agree with DMD123. Toyin is great but he won't pamper his buyers like Wetspot. I am happy we still have Toyin to bring in rare bichirs.

My weeksii is only shy eating but not shy exploring the tank.

option 1) get the 3.5" teugelsi. Put it in with my 5" ornate. Let it grow a little bit, then get the 6-7" weeksii and friends. If I do this option with the teugelsi, I'd like to order other fish through live aquaria as DMD123 DMD123 suggested. That way I can get free shipping. Then once I get more into it and more experience, contact Toyin. Currently I have a 55 gal. After I return the pike, the ornate will be the only one in the tank. Any suggestions for tank mates? Don't want to over crowd the tank, but also want something to swim around in there. Or I'd get a bunch of plants. never kept plants before. Don't have the correct substrate right now though.

I like the look of:
- congo tetras
-bosemati rainbow fish,
-koi angels
- blue acaras
-discus
- blood parrots
-arrowana( my tank is way too small)
-puffers
basically want to add some color. any suggestions would be appreciated.

option 2) order the weeksii and/or ansorgii. Wait on the teugelsi.

Okay... Im going to be the stick in the mud, lol. I have a whole different idea

I would not recommend a teugelsi or an ornate in the 55g at all. Also no to the weeksii and ansorgii. Unless an 18" wide tank like a 75g were to come into play, I would stay with some of the upper jaws that do not grow as large. I would look at rehoming the ornate now and get something more suited like a delhezi, sen or one of the palmas complex.

While there would be some fun growout time with the potentially larger polys, at some point the larger size would come into play and a bit more room would be nice to have. So my vote is to get a 75g or bigger if you want to go down the large poly path or stick with upper jaws that will work long term if you are going with the 55g for a while.
