Asian markets usually have snails that they will eat. It would be better for them than catfood and easier to find than crayfish. You might want to try that.

The closes asian market is a 3 hr drive from here i've ben looking around but no luck so far!!Would you know of any where that ships them??Thank you in advance!!I've even tried some local chinese restaurants & had no luck!!It would be cheaper then can of snails too!!!
Apple snails...and I am very jealous of you right now. I want to get a caiman lizard myself. Please take lots of pictures 
Apple snails are illegal to have as pets here...Well i am of you also,if i lived in Germany i would have a nice collection of monitor lizards where i live there illegal. I've ben trying for two years to get a license to have them & it's impossible to get a hold of the fella who does such!! I've even drive for 3 hrs to his office hoping to see him & he's almost never there.But here's some pictures as you asked i'm glad you like him too.Apple snails...and I am very jealous of you right now. Know that you said that,yes he does.He's in that attack mode,leave me alone with that big black flashy thing out of my face!! I dont blame him the camera is bigger then he is!!! For now at least!!
You could buy some cheap live aquarium plants that have snails on them and keep that in the water area; you'll have a few small snails for him to snack on as well as something for him to rest on.
