I love the tank! I'm working on putting together my 850 gallon somewhat similar to yours!.
Is the sp. sao fran a kelberiXazul cross?

I think it is. It's one of the fish Wes (rare fish) brought in late last year.

Yup.
One of the bass w/ a lot of controversy and BS behind it.
Another one of them cichla import shams...false labeling to make a buck.
But w/ all that being said....That is one great lookn bass!
One of the better of those hybrids ive seen yet.
How about some more pics of it? BOth sides please.

Hmmmm, I'm not too familiar with the sham side of that fish, but maybe for me ignorance is bliss in this case.

Whats weird is I see circular markings within the vertical bars it looks more like a kelrino to me but I am no expert in the matter, none the less nice fish and im sure the larger it gets we will be able to see more traits. Nice setup love all the fish

So Gangster ! Is the Sao Fran a hybrid? Is this fish bought in by Wes different than the Sao Fran that lovethemfish and Jojo were selling in the spring?

As far is it being a hybrid, I say yes it is. azul, tem, pin only have cheek markings. And OPs fish doesn't like like either, it's azulXsomething I dunno the other half tho. As far as our being same/diff between vendors, idk.

This san francisco is wonderful.
Nice colors but its an unknown specimen for sure.

If possible in the location you said I would guess it is an orinocensis x something, but actually there are no orinos related in Rio São Francisco.

Maybe its a kelberi x pinima hybrid because of the tears in the operculum and the circular yellow-rounded blotches.. he doesnt have piquiti traits at all.

If youre curious, I found a fish which is prob an hybrid between kelxpinima:
