I think some of my baby indos may have finrot for some reason. I'm not sure, because we've had them for a few months now and nothing has been added to their tank besides some baby clown loaches, and the clown loaches are showing no signs of anything whatsoever.
Usually clowns show signs of illness before anyone else, so I'm not sure if maybe some of the dats were beating up on each other and it caused them to get infected or what. I did notice some of them were chasing each other a lot, so we put another big piece of driftwood in so they'll have enough hiding places, and they're about to be moved to a 75g so they'll have more room.

So in any case, my question is:

Are dats sensitive to any medications? What do you guys think the best way to treat for finrot on dats is, and are there any treatments I should completely stay away from?

No one?

I guess I'll just start treating with normal meds. We're gonna move all the ones that look like they don't have it at all, and the clown loaches to the 75g tank and leave the other ones in the 55g to treat them.

Do you have any pics?

Good luck with yout treatment. WHat are you plannint to use?

Melafix :)

I might try melafix. I've had luck with it on almost everything for other fish, including ich which it's not supposed to do anything for.
I'm kind of paranoid though because a couple people mentioned baby dats being sensitive to it. Maybe I'll just try a half dose.

I've been slowly adding salt to the tank over the course of a few days to see if that will do anything before the healthy looking ones get moved to the 75g.
At least I know a small amount of salt won't be potentially dangerous like other meds.

Do you have any pics?

I don't have that many pics right now. Maybe I'll take a pic of each one when we move them to the other tank. :D

There's a couple of them on my avatar. I have 16 in all, mostly around 2 inches long and a couple of smaller ones. They were all bought a few months ago out of one single shipment to one of the fish stores we frequent. One died from lack of appetite, but we've had really good luck with the other ones fortunately, until this finrot thing, but I think they'll recover just fine.
Obviously you can see why I'm paranoid about treating. Only one death out of seventeen 1 inchers is really good and I don't want anymore mortalities.

2 biggest:

This is from not long after we got them. I think there were only 8 in there at the time, but my husband went back and bought more lol:

One of them that had just eaten:

That's all right now. I need updated pics. The pic on my avatar and the first one I posted are the most recent, of the 2 biggest ones, and they've grown a tiny bit since then.

Is the last one in the pic a Siamese Tiger? I did not know that their stomach could get this BIG. I feed mine but i guess not enough lol. They have nice stomach but not like this one.

WHich tank size are the 16 dats in?

They're all indonesian tiger dats, he's just REALLY little in that pic, less than an inch long.

They're in a 55g right now, about to go into a 75g.

might try posting in the disease/health category

I would, be I specifically want the information relating to dats and nothing else.
