Hey all,
First time posting, would like some advice on a health issue with my 5 year old fire eel.

Over the last month he has developed a growth or lump under his skin, doesn't appear to have broken the skin fully or have any obvious infection/fungal looking surface to it?
He has been fine with it for that time however the last week he has lost his appetite and personality- just moving around slowly always low in the tank, not swimming up to surface, not interested in food, just heavy breathing and lots of laying still.
His left eye is slightly cloudier than his right? Apart from that, the lump and his loss of appetite/personality I can't see anything else.

Any thoughts as to whether I should be treating it as bacterial or fungal? Or if it's a tumor/growth that cannot be treated?

Any advice appreciated! (:

Do you have a PVC pipe as a hide? Does it have sharp edges? I’ve seen something similar happen to someone else FE.
Should check your nitrates and phosphate levels just in case. Weekly water changes and added epsom salt never hurts.

If you are feeding shrimp only pre soak it in Boyd’s FW Vitachem or similar product to compensate it for the Thiaminase or feed earthworms instead. Paprika and turmeric can help add to their colours.

I don’t think anything to treat with bacterial or fungal meds. Injury or tumor/growth imo.

Hey all, much appreciated the replies and advice, unfortunately he went downhill very quickly within a few hours.
Thank you for your help though.
