yeah i got pvc but i dont wanna put it in because i dont want the fire eel to be a hiding whore lol. it sucks for him i dont have bloodworms so hes gonna have to eat shrimp. does anyones eat carnivore pellets>

starving a fish you just got is a recipe for a dead fish. Get him eating something and get him comfortable... and then try to force him to eat something else

i would some time if i didn't have any time to get him food i would look outside for earthworms. GL with him.

yes that should be fine. my 18" one i had to give up i give it to IsdaFish and hes now in a 180 gal. :D

more hide spots = less stressed fish = fish out and about more .. my 3 come out mid-day and have tons of hiding spots, they feels safe in their tank. quite hilarious to see 'em spook and the tank go nuts.. as they dash to their hiding spots I must admit. GL starving it onto shrimp.. they are very stubborn and will starve themselves to death on occasion. I wish you luck, but I have a feeling it'll be another "My fire eels died.." :( not trying to be rude.. but honest.

My 13" fire eel eats red worms but i'm trying to get him broke on shrimp, pain in my ***

Mine will only eat blood worms. Trying to get it on frozen ghost shrimp as well. Any strategies for this? Soemtimes it goes several days unseen, so I'm not even sure if it is eating most of the time. It will just reappear suddenly and start devouring all the blood worms it can handle, but nothing else.

Denying a nocturnal fish adequate hiding places is pretty cruel.

Hiding spots are great but a bunch of pvc=an eel you will never see.I make a cave that i can still see into out of driftwood.

Try soaking market shrimp in the blood worms before feeding. It took my fire eel 6 weeks before he ate.He is now over three feet at 3.5 years of age.

i had a 18" one that would only come out at night.
