Reminds me of the guy that shot a burglar and then got sued for paralyzing him. Moral of that story - always kill the burglar.
THAT i can agree with :headbang2

That sucks and is beyond retarded. SOOOOOOOOO glad i live in america where I can actually protect myself.

thanks. i believe, as do at one time a majority of america, in gettin what you pay for. If you dont pay for something u dont get it.

For some reason today, alot of people think they should get everything without needing to work or pay for anything. The sence of entitilment in this country is sickining.
Trust me, I feel the same way about freeloaders and people expecting handouts, my views are highly conservative but at the same time I can use common sense. A public service like the FD refusing to put out your fire because of a fee is just ridiculous and I will never agree with it. That county seriously needs to rethink its policies. God forbid an employee makes a clerical error and forgets to records somebody's payment, there goes your house. Because we all know, when humans are involved, clerical mistakes like that happen ALL the time when it comes to billing & payments.

First of all I dont equate my chosen profession to anything - nothing else is like the Marine Corps. Apparently you think Marines dont think? That is laughable. I certainly hope that principles are not meaningless to firefighters. They have families, what are they teaching their kids? Im not sure if you understand the terms you are using? Are you really suggesting that I have no morals and do you really think that principles and morals are that different?
prin·ci·ple/ˈprinsəpəl/Noun
1. A fundamental truth or proposition that serves as the foundation for a system of belief or behavior or for a chain of reasoning.
2. A rule or belief governing one's personal behavior.

hmmmmmm sounds kinda like morals huh?

Lastly, Im not here to "swap war stories" . I have used some examples that I mistakenly thought you might understand. we can return to the examples once youve brushed up on vocabulary.

ah, but now you've dabbled in my profession and I hate to tell you, you're wrong.

Principles are based on law, morals are based on a socially defined hegemony. Had you done more than an internet search, you'd know that.

I work for an education company and my bachelors is in English with a specialization in critical theory. Don't think your dictionary.com definitions can outweigh a career of study.

Your post is similar an issue I've seen among many returning servicemen from the mideast and I'm sorry to tell you this based on your responses here you have no compassion. I feel sorry for you and your family that this has happened. I don't know how my brother in law survived 3 tours in Iraq with his compassion intact, but I'm thankful that it is. Apparently not all were so lucky.

step back from you aggression for one second and ask yourself "does the punishment fit the crime?." This isn't an insurgent, this is an american citizen. Did he really deserve to lose his house, his pets, and his heirlooms for a 75$ fee he forgot to pay?

you seem so quick to judge, so quick to assume he simply didn't want to pay and that he merely wanted a free ride. Have you even looked into it more than the original article? Or do the marines teach you to base that free thinking on single sources with little relevant information?

^ glad to see other people have common sense. Maybe with the statement issued by the IAFF, this ass-backwards county and it's ignorant management will change their policies.

This is a shame. I know back in the days when fire fighting was started they had the pay to play policy but come on it's 2010 now. I hope this guy takes legal actions instead of his insurance company paying for a rebuild.

based on the way insurance companies work, they likely won't pay. Being that the fire wasn't fought because he neglected to pay a fee they will claim they are not liable to pay for the damages. So he's likely totally screwed.

Teach that wanker to not pay his fees... serves him right!!! You people who think they should have put it out are probably the same people who think illegals should be able to have health care and other rights even though they are illegal and DONT PAY TAXES... this guy is just as bad... hope he learned his lesson...

it is a shame the town doesn't have a state funded fire department... hopefully the state can get it addressed so the department is set up with funding from taxes all ready payed by the town.. **state is to blame** and should maybe help this guy with a new place.... *BUT!!* he should have paid his fees or moved out of the town/state to a place with a funded fire department...

He knew his situation and he ignored it... I don't feel sorry for him at all...so, I hope he learned a lesson...:screwy::screwy::screwy:\

the reason i said the above is because that video of him talkin... he forgot to pay the bill?? come one they probably sent him so many letters to renew/pay the fee.... i think he's running a bull farm because i smell "...."
