based on the way insurance companies work, they likely won't pay. Being that the fire wasn't fought because he neglected to pay a fee they will claim they are not liable to pay for the damages. So he's likely totally screwed.

We all forget to make bills at some point. But that does make sense. Insurance companies are nothing but greed.

they are illegal and DONT PAY TAXES...

Your post just wreaks of ignorance. Illegal or not, they get taxes withheld from their pay just like everybody else. Sure, they may be using a false SSN, but they still pay taxes to uncle sam. Get a clue

Yeah it makes total sense. I doubt his insurance would cover it. Kinda like if you fail to maintain your car regularly, they'll void your warranty coverage.

Don't know if this was said yet or not, but it seems as though the homeowners knew the consequences of not paying. If the firefighters DID put out the fire, how many people will pay the fee next year? Probably ZERO.

It's a sad story, but the rules are rules.

the common practice is that the firefighters put it out and then bill for the total cost to fight the fire. this means the montery neglect is punished in a monetary way and all those payign their fees see the amount billed and are thankful that they pay their small fee.

Trust me, I feel the same way about freeloaders and people expecting handouts, my views are highly conservative but at the same time I can use common sense. A public service like the FD refusing to put out your fire because of a fee is just ridiculous and I will never agree with it. That county seriously needs to rethink its policies. God forbid an employee makes a clerical error and forgets to records somebody's payment, there goes your house. Because we all know, when humans are involved, clerical mistakes like that happen ALL the time when it comes to billing & payments.
I dont like the fee decision. But thats the way this county is run. If it was different and they did this i would condem thier decision but that is the way this county is run.

Yes they should have. THere is a fee for a reason. SO they can continue to provide service. You dont pay for service you dont get service. You dont pay for your electric, u dont get ur electric. Dont pay your water, dont get your water. Dont pay to get ur trash removed, your trash stays at your house. That's how it works. Thats life. You pay to get stuff.

And you do know most places charge you for an ambo ride right? It cost money to do that stuff and most places dont have a fire tax to pay for fire services. The fire budget either relys on carnivals and stuff, or tax payers money. This perticular area relys on a fee.

^^HAHA that is absolutely absurd. You do know that they charge you for an ambulance ride after you have arrived at the hospital and have received treatment. If you're child calls 911 because you have just had a heart attack, are they going to tell them they're not coming because mommy or daddy hasn't been giving their annual donation to the local fire department? NO, they are going to show up and provide their services first and ask money questions later

Public service doesn't mean to serve everyone... Next time, try to call LAPD to report a crime happens in your area, see if they show up ;)
