Fireline Crystal

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I only use Fireline in the lighter sizes (10lbs or under) on my spinning reels. Its stiffness due to it being a fused braid aids in casting.

Once it gets over 10 or 14 lbs, I think Fireline is too thick. I then use any of the PE braids made by Daiwa, Sunline, Yamatoya, or Nitlon. Fins PRT is also a great braid.

I don't like the Crystal, as I find that the strands separate more readily than the other Firelines. I normally use the Pink or Flame Green version; as I fish alot with soft plastics, and alot of times, you can't feel the fish take the lure, you have to watch the braid. The brighter colours are easier to see. If it twitches or moves un-naturally, strike! When finesse fishing with soft plastics, I would probaly miss half the strikes if I was to rely on feel alone.

Oh, forgot to add, the bright colours don't put the fish off because I always use a clear Fluorocarbon or nylon leader.

Hey would braided line work with topwaters and jigs?
I use plastics on my monofilament line. 10lbs but is that too thick in clear/blue/murky water?

Why would thickness matter? Seriously.

Hi; I use fireline crystal on one of my reels and I went to go get more, but the store owner said he got rid of it because it is sh*tty.

A couple of us striper slingers have used crystal line and like it . It seens to knot good and because its a little like mono , it doesnt fade like Power pro does. It casts smooth and far.I hope they make it so its more than 30 lb test some day.

yeah that's what my local store said too.
but do you know what he meant by that?? what's the bad part of it?

i just like the fact..clear line/thinner line
