Males have smaller tails than females but you wont be able to tell til about 8 inches or so.

Cool. my lfs is getting a motoro and hystrix ray tomorrow, and they'll sell them to me cheap! I might have to get them if you know what I mean. they should be small, >6" disks. arowanas do well with rays, right?

careful with that hystrix ray, its rare to get a REAL hystrix from an lfs, it usually turns out as an orbignyi or a cheap peru ray.

my first aro was in 2001 -2003. a silver which died because it ate some bad live feeders. was a decent size and would often try to jump out (i would hear this at night cause the tank lid would bang).

for the time i had it his tankmates were a pelco and a poly. he ate them both in time
