Nice Bass! Nothing has thawed in North New Jersey, and, we just got hit by about 5 inches of snow. I was just getting excited too, because it was in the 60s for 3-4 days and the snow was finally melting.

hey NC fisher, In what part of NC did you catch that monster?

Where do you fish, I live in Orlando now and am trying to find some spots, I dont have too much experience with big lakes but if you recommend some Ill give it a try, Im near the econ river and there aint nothin in there, some local lakes have numbers but no size/

I live more north of Orlando, in the longwood area. I typically fish at cranes roost (Altamonte mall area) and the wekiva river. Cranes roost is good for quality bass, have caught a couple 8-9 pounders there, not good for numbers though.

Although florida has good bass, and the bass can be found in any body of water, other types of fishing are not very good besides the ever common bluegill. Occasionally you'll hit a honey hole, though.

Thanks, when I get some free time I might have to venture over there, I fished Wekiva once, caught 3 tiny ones in about half an hour but it was crowded that day so I didnt fish very long, plus canoe rental was like $15 an hour lol, I got a kayak now though so I should try to get back over there.

Nice fish man. I wish we didnt just get hit by the snow again otherwise I would be out there. The ponds thawed and froze right back over.

Dont let anyone tell you that a 5lb bass is not a good fish. Because all they are going to do is say I fish salt, salmon, or big toothy predators that are that big just about every time you catch them.

Yeah it's pretty expensive, so that's why I bought my own kayak. I've had luck fishing frogs around the lily pad fields and jerkbaits and jigs around cover. During the spawn (Right now) big bass are hard to come by.

thanks :P good luck to you too
