So today i tried a different look

Figured i would try out the tongue and groove cedar and its going to be the new finish instead of the tongue and groove pine. I also bought a stain and polyurethane coat i will be putting on tonight. I have a pic i will find and attach shortly. Thanks for checking this out.

Ok so im nearing the final stages of this build and i was wondering something... I bought GE Silicone 1 for the glass. It says on it not for aquarium use and i was planning on using this for bonding the glass. Is this the right stuff? Im pretty sure its what a lot of people in threads i have read use so just checking. Thanks for the help.

Looking good! Have you considered using pond liner to water proof it. Might be a good, cheap, and easy solution.

Thats the stuff I used for my tank. As long as its just silicone with no additives for anti-microbial or anti-mold, etc then it should be fine

Im using pondarmor after i fiberglass it.

Great work so far

Cool thanks i made sure and got the stuff that isnt mold resistant.

Next question, i drilled two holes so i could plumb in some type of mechanical filter and was wondering if anyone had any ideas. I am srufing the web now looking but i havent found anything that is what im looking for.

What did you have in mind? are you looking for mech filter in your drain pipe to your sump? a lot of people just use a filter sock. I have layers of felt in my sump to act as mech filter before my bio media

Well i drilled holes in the bottom of the back wall of the tank. Im going to go with a lifeguard aquatics mechanical filter i think.

Just to keep good movement up on the bottom of the tank and more filtration. I have filter socks going to the custom filtration. I went with a home made wet/dry style setup and i will be using an ATB Flowstar 1500 for my return pump(although im not sure if one will be enough so i may run dual ATBs for return).
