First fish of the year tomorrow? Let's hope so

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
congrats on ir first catch, the leepers looked nice as well. i know how you feel about not being able to fish all winter. i finally got to go the other weekend but spent 6hrs on the boat with not even a bite, bit finally went again 2 days ago and ran back to a secret hole with a friend and nailed my first catch of the year, a 3lbs speckled trout on top water!

very nice, my first beach trip of the year will probably be in a couple weeks over spring break at the beginning of march, hoping to get the flounder year started out right :P

yeah cuz it was bleeding out on ice for about 4 hours and i rinsed it off before the picture, i guess next time i can just leave it a bloody mess in my sink? lol

I was referring to the first pic where the lure is still in it's
mouth, mostly.

the first picture and the 2nd picture were 2 different fish, the one that got gill hooked was the 2nd picture and it was gill hooked and bleeding on the side i had turned towards myself for the picture, hope that clears that up for ya

- to msmass, thanks hope the snow melts soon so you can go catch some stripers haha - the funny thing is i haven't kept any freshwater fish in something like 2-3 years i usually 100% C&R (unless saltwater) but my girlfriend has been wanting me to keep some fish to fry up and the crappie in that pond are overpopulated because there used to be a lot of big blue cats but people started keeping all of them so now there aren't enough big cats to eat the" crappie once they get over 5-6" pretty good stock of big -bullheads too, can't really tell from that picture but that guy was a solid 17-18"

what kind of bass is that? that looks nothing like the largemouth here! Maybe a different strain of largemouth?

You'll see that when the water is cold and the color of the water can change their color alittle also. It's just like are cichlids the color/ pattern can change depending on their mood !
