Thanks, You are correct. Both my tanks are not sitting "across" the floor joists. They are however sitting parallel above the 10"x2" floor joists. I dont think this will be an issue.

"GULPS, WILL IT?!?!":nilly: :nilly: :nilly: :nilly: :nilly: :nilly: :nilly: :nilly: :nilly: :nilly:

I dunno. Could be. Its definitely not ideal though.

Nice tank bomber. Loving the shopping list. Have fun breaking the tank in. Is there a tap nearby for easy water changes?

It is really easy to add support though.

Sorry I was not detailed in my set up but I will have a water spigot underneath my tank right next to the drain. It will be attached to a pressure regulator, attached to a carbon filter.

Have you done this before friend? Any tips would be great.

The suggestions I would make would be to make sure that if running with the joists like that, that it at least straddles two of them. Then you could brace across those two joists from below and then use something like a 4x4 or two to brace it against the basement floor. (or, you could buy the threadable jack type support) I think sitting only on one joist is bad news even if braced.

Sorry to ruin your festive mood, but I think you're better off safe than sorry. Especially where a 200+ gallon tank is concerned. Especially yours... being only 6ft instead of the usual 8ft for something of that volume, the weight is even more concentrated on its footprint.

Great Tank man, lots of high quality stuff you got there. And ya as the others said you would be better safe than sorry. Get your floor sorted out and you will be ready to rock N roll!

Would this mean bracing the 4x4's perpendicular to the joists?

The 200+ tank is sitting on 2 or more joists.

thanks.

It might not be needed. But you never know.. I would be worried about the effects of time. Wood can eventually start to bow when subjected to massive weight like that for years and years.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

Hm... I see what you mean now. But damn thats going to look ugly lol. I will use that approach if I can not come up with another way to make it look nicer.
