thanks! i will get on that. up to what size fish will these guys eat? i've heard "anything that will fit in their mouths" but how big is that? i havn't seen these guys in action yet.

They usually have good size mouths i'd say they could eat rosy reds but you don't wan't to feed them feeders very often try to get it onto Krill, fish fillets, bloodworms, brineshrimp, night crawlers and see if you can get it to eat flakes and pellets

i was asking because i have a tank they would do well in but it has some apistos right now. thanks for the advice on food.

Ohh we'll large Apistos would be safe from being eaten aggression is what you would need to worrie about in a large tank with tons of plants and hideing spots you could probably get away with it

I have a pair of Crenicichla Notopthalmus and a pair of Pelvicachromis Tenaeatus 'Wouri' that do very well together in a 55. There are also hoplo cats and mustache danio that add a bit of dither. I have recently decided to tear down my 150 and turn it into a planted dwarf Crenicichla/cichlid community tank because of how much i love watching these guys interact - I would highly recommend giving them as much space as you possibly can. They exhibit much more of their natural behavior if they have larger territories and don't feel too crowded. Definitely one of my favorite fish -

really nice looking fish, just starting my interest in these,...i can see why people like them so much...

Just an update on my two pikes. The larger (male I believe due to the front dorsal spikes) has been out and about recently and I was able to take some pictures. The smaller regani still hides behind the filter all day and I have never seen it swim around. But it's belly is still round so I assume all is well. Sorry for the water marks this isnt a show tank or anything.

Is this a noto or a regani like the other? It does not have any marks on the dorsal.

I would love to see pics of that dwarf 150 tank. I have a 55 with apisto cacatuoides in it. Do you think they would be in danger if I added these?
