I'm not much of a planted tank guy.

I have heard this before on this forum :)

but that tank is f'ing amazing!!!

I never tire of hearing that :)

Love the wood, and the simple look with the big school of cardinals.

Yes, the trees make it for me, but there is plenty of wood that you cannot see immediately...Yes, the cardinals have long been a favorite of mine. They truly look awesome...

Great work, keep the pics coming.

Thanks very much for all the kind words. I will post more pics/videos... Should see some really nice ones from the photoshoot coming this weekend. Better camera and camera operator. I will get some nice FTS but also shots from all angles (if possible, time permitting), as well as some nicer video.

I will be able to learn something while he is here as I have some interest in photography...

Later.

Hi all,

Hope all is well. Made some small changes in prep for the photo shoot :)

1. Removed much plant material from the left tree front and the right tree tops. You can really see the trees now...

2. Removed the plant that was not doing well and replaced with the smaller anubias that was in the trees.

3. I trimmed my coffeefolia and increased the section in front of the left tree. Looks nice...

4. Did some general cleaning and a bit of trimming.

5. Cleaned inside and outside of all glass. I will do this daily until the shoot.

I will hookup a mag 350 with the micron immediately after the last water change on Sat to really polish the water overnight. I will do the w/c earlier than normal to give more time for polishing. I have been doing daily w/c just to get things cleaner..

Looks pretty good if I may say so.

Here is another in a long line of slideshows :)

Hi all,

Having issues uploading pics with no apparent msg (file too large, etc) so another slideshow. I have been working on getting the tank neatened up for the photo shoot today by a co worker...his first attempt with aquascaping photography...

Looking much better as time goes by and it matures...

Have a great one!

Hey,

A pic with most of the hardware out of the tank and just a mag 350 running for polishing until the actual photo shoot starts :)

You can see the two light booms and lights we used. We ended up removing the ATI fixture for all the pics...

Later.

How'd the shoot go Gerry???

Hi,

It went well and I will post some pics. I did not get as many as I would have liked but I learned a lot and it was a lot of fun.

That said, I will NOT be entering the AGA contest as the pics do not to me reflect the tank as I want it portrayed. The tank is a bright, 360 view, open top but the pics make it look dark and that only the front viewing pane is available.

We will work for next year. I can work on my gardening and we can experiment with getting the perfect shot...

Appreciate your interest.

Hi all,

A few quick pics and I will try and post more as I can...

Take care and hope all is well.

I see what you mean, Gerry. The pics look great, but don't reflect the light and airy nature of your tank. In reality, I like the pics you have taken better lol!

How did they turn out so different?

Hi, I am glad you do...The pics in terms of quality are much better than mine. Better camera/equipment AND operator :) However, I do like the LOOK of mine better, as that is what I see daily and is what I wish to convey. I guess I am a meatloaf instead of angus steak kind of guy...

How did they turn out so different?

I think the biggest things were:

1. We removed my ATI fixture which is pretty darn bright.

2. We used two boom lights, but these were NOT as bright nor provided the same spread as mine.

3. The boom lights were a single natural daylight temp/kelvin rating. I have 4 different colored tubes although all the same temp.

4. The use of the black background. He did not like my wall color at all and had issues with the ending of the wall before the end of the tank..He also had issues with the TV reflection and we needed to deal with that as well.

Remember that he was going for a contest shot, which dictates a full frontal view. I tend to take mine at a slight angle as I do not use a tripod :)

I am going to purchase a decent Canon DSLR today and have a goal to take my own contest pics for next year...

Thanks for following along all of this time.
