Just read this thread from first to last, great updates and plans for the tank! And I love the driftwood!

Thanks for following along!

Hey all,

I am swapping the sump and wet/dry configuration for a closed loop canister using two of the Eheim model 2080 professional 3. I think this will be quieter with less fiddling around and be less obtrusive than the overflow box as nice as it is..

I hope to pick them up tomorrow and install soon thereafter....

More to come....

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing this all setup. Great dimensions, I have a 4' wide tank and i love it, its amazing to see a fish come swimming toward you. Hurry and get this setup already!

Thanks much! I have read your thread and I love your big tank! It must be nice to see the fish in such a large environment...

I am working as fast as I can :)

I hope this isn't too late, but you may want to reconsider using the 2080s and going with 2260 or 2262s instead. I haven't heard many good things about the 2080s.

Hi,

Too late :) I picked up the XL last night and installed. They seem quiet and powerful enough for my use.. They have 3 large media baskets that hold a gal of media each.

I will post my experiences with these models but feel they will be fine. I have heard others with good experiences with these models. I always have the overflow and sump to fall back on if they fail to perform in any way.

Thanks for the thoughts! Appreciate it as these are expensive...

Hey all,

I hope to make lots of progress this weekend and will share the results with you, good, bad, or ugly :)

I swapped the overflow and wet/dry/sump for the dual Eheims. They are installed and are very quiet and I am happy so far. I have one at each end for now with each spraybar at each 'end' pointing towards the middle. This creates some nice flow patterns.

Since these are low-flow canisters the vortech mp40 is installed at one end and does a really nice job.

I received and installed the new Gman bulbs and they look nice. So, the tank is up and 'running'. The water is dark due to the manzy leaching....this will take some time, lots of water changes, and perhaps some activated carbon :)

Thanks for listening....

Hi all,

Tom flew out this weekend to scape the new aquarium. He was here from Fri afternoon to early Sunday morning...

Hardscape was done Friday night and the planting/filling on Saturday. You may want to head over to the Barr report for the zillions of details..

Here is a link to 10 pics. 4 show the manzy hardscape placement on the bare bottom. You can see the 12x12 slate used on the trees and Tom's leg while he is pondering the scape...

The last 6 show with ADA AS applied. If you look straight on between the trees, there is a large pillar type manzy piece. This needs to be trimmed down to remove the pillar portion. The base fit perfectly into the hardscape so I have to trim this. It is distracting and Tom agrees.

Enjoy. More to come soon I hope!

Please note that I will NOT post any pics of the current planting and scape until the water clears. It is very cloudy now and you cannot see clearly. I do not want to post any pics until this clears a bit. With my small P&S camera the pics will be bad enough as is w/o dealing with that. It gets better daily but I at least want to see end to end lengthwise and I cannot currently.

Sorry but that is the way it is for now...

It was great meeting and working with Tom and getting to know him a bit. We got along great and he also made some enhancement to the 180 scape as well as my 45 gal...

Please be patient for pics.

Thanks!
