  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hey, it's over stocked but the fish look healthy. That's a lot more than I can say for some of the fish I see online. Tank upgrade will be great and keep up on those water changes. Welcome.

Sorry. I said this was a red terror. Actually bought it advertised as a red devil. I got a lot to learn. Been with this hobby a long time but never actually got any real advice.;) so is this a devil or median or mix? He looks like a hump is growing on his head!?

Back belt is pimp. All these guys are healthy to the eye. All fins are clean and full. The jag had hole in the head over 5 years ago. I was able to treat and stop it back then. Those were the days I thought buying goldfish for him to eat was cool. Basically been on a pellet diet since with some ghost shrimp or krill here and there. Also an occasional craw daddy.

That does look like a red devil to me. he's pretty long to be a midas IMHO. But if you got him in a common LFS that doesn't keep pure breads, he's likely got a bit of red devil and a bit of midas in him.

Yeah man, that's one of the nicer black belts I've seen.

If I lived in FL, I'd be happy to help you "thin the herd" and take that black belt off your hands hahaha.

Good to hear you've taken it upon yourself to learn about proper nutrition, and got rid of the HITH. The jag looks pretty nice too. But for as old as he is, he's a runt haha. Should definitely be above 15" at this point.

Honestly, though.....I don't know how that stock is working so well for you. I'd have figured the jag would have killed everything in there. Same with the red devil, and as he gets bigger, I'm sure he'll start tearing into the other fish. In only a 4' tank, one of them is likely to start thinking he'd be better off being the only fish in that tank and may start killing off the others. Eventually, you'll have to get rid of some. You've got 2 fish that get real big, and a few others that get pretty big. A couple of those could definitely use that entire tank for themself once large enough. Anyway, it's all been said in previous posts. Just keep an eye on them, and get rid of your least favorites as the fish start getting too crowded. And keep up on those water changes. I'd just make it routine to do 50% 2X per week on that tank, and do some Ammonia/Nitrite/Nitrate checks every once in a while to make sure things stay in check.

You probably mean "red devil" not "red terror", they are different fish. Your fish look great, but as people have mentioned before, you prob are a bit overstocked. But as long as you have a clear cut tank ruler that keeps the others in check, than it should work out for the time. Remember, when you redo your tank, that may cause choas in the tank as your fish try to establish new teritorries. So keep an eye on them. Last thing, Change that terrible towel for a Silver and Black one, and your tank will be set.

The jag sets the mood for the tank. He also is the reason i have a 5' 110 gallon tank. I did have him with Africans buy he killed them all. I finally realised the difference between African and s. American. Obviously Im about to learn that these guys keep growing and someone will have to go. I can't believe how big this black belt had gotten over the past year. Unbelievable.
