First Red Wigglers

Just an FYI, the tire track eel can get up to 37-40". It is possible that it will only get to around 24" and stop but many have them larger.

Also, at that size, they will probably need something more substantial than frozen bloodworms. Some people have talked about their fire eels and tire track eels (they are pretty close to the same eel) eating a dozen large night crawlers at once.

I'm glad I am having success in getting mine to eat the red wigglers because they are so healthy and have a lot of protein.
Looks like I just read almost all of the wrong sources. I just didn't want to go to the second page of google. I don't think anyone really does.

I would say that is not too far off, but it is also not very uncommon for them to get 30+" in captivity, and some people have had them up to 40".

Do you know of any other eels 24" or under that don't burrow?

I'm pretty sure that all of the spiny eels burrow. The peacock eel is a bit smaller. There are a few other smaller species of spiny eel but I think that they all burrow to some degree.

I had a half banded spiny eel and it never burrowed. I also had a peacock and it never burrowed.

Ah... I'm still guessing what's a red wiggler is. Lol. We have fish shops here in Singapore selling them in boxes for feeding.
