So pleasant to read about one fish in one thread. Feels almost like one is involved in a small bit of somebody else's life. Good job. Now, the pond will not be good for colder times (by the way, you might wanna cover it with pond netting to prevent predators getting your fish and to prevent your fish from jumping out). What's the plan then?

Funny to see an exchange of two, well, basically Buffalonians. I lived 10 years in Rochester, NY and ran a fish rescue center for 2 years. Just moved a year ago. My usual fish trip was PetsPlus, Lockport, NY, then The Fish Place, North Tonawanda, then Markheim's Pets, Buffalo, then back home. Those are the best and the only three LFSs I found useful for my purposes in the Greater Buffalo area, with the first two being the best by far and large.

Good luck, guys.

Thanks BiggertheBetter. I've actually made the pond completely (yet not easily) de-constructable. It's basically made of landscape timbers, with holes drilled through each end and all connected with rebar. Insulation board, and plywood on the inside under the pond liner. With that being said, my plan for the harsh Buffalo winters is to move the pond into the basement.

Also, I realized while building the pond and getting it setup that the the growth rate of my rtcxtsn has slowed down quite a bit since hitting around the 10" range, therefore he won't be needing the pond this year. Therefore I'm currently using it as a grow-out pond for my electric blue jack dempsey breeding project.

They often exhibit growth spurts and periods of modest growth in between. They usually really slow down only after hitting around a 2' mark. The next slowing down will occur after a 3' mark.

awsome to see yours tern out looking so nice i feed mine almost every day and he is still only about 4 1/2 inches lol. i cant beleave the pattern on yours that has to be the coolest i have seen yet. it almost looks like a leperd

Thanks Liontammer! I definitely love him! ....So much he just got an upgrade to the bedroom tank, from being stuck in the back of my house in the laundry/fish room! Lol He's the most active catfish I've ever seen, let alone kept. And loves company! He cruises right up to the glass when your in the room. Definitely get what people were saying when they said they're like puppies! Lol
