Thanks again!

I wish he was more wet pet like, he's kind of shy. I'm assuming syns tend not to be as personable as Oscars or Midas?

When my syns was younger, he was skitish and would easily be startled and jumped up. He got cut badly in his head a couple times hitting the top of the tank and rock so I learned to approach the tank slowly. Now at 11 inch, he is not skitish but still shy. I don't know if he will get bolder with age, but don't count on him to interact like Midas. On the positive side, unlike Midas, he tolerates tankmates.

This guy is skittish as well, getting a bit better. I'll have to get used to it... won't be too hard, he's so pretty :D

Syns are shy fish like Dampsey, just bigger. Provide him tankmates and he will be less shy. I keep my syns singly with a bunch of small African cichlids, some small enough to fit into his mouth, and he is coming out. Syns is not a predator and there is no danger he would eat or bully small fish.
