hey i might change my water in my tank about 1/4 of the water and the tank is a 60g because its kinda get a lil cloudy due to me feeding my pbass about 4-5 times a day because i like to they them all big and fat so they can grow a little faster...so anyone know how to change it? do i just take out 1/4 of the water from the tank and put new water into the tank...i was think about get a gallon of water and get it to the right ph, nitrate, nitrite and ammonia level...then put in one gallon of water by one...is there any problem with this? if you have better ways to do them plz let me know...thanks

Stop feeding them so much, you are going to cause your nitrates to skyrocket, and the fish will suffer.

I'm at a lose as to how someone can have 56 posts on this site and own Pbass but not know how to do the most simple task in this hobby

How do you feed a fish???? Ive had this fish that has been laying on its side for 2 weeks and it hasnt moved. And its turning into a skeleton, how do I feed it?? thank you

well i am sorry i am trying to get back into this hobby because i stop doing it for years...and i let my dad do the water changes and everytime he does it one or more fish die...and i want to do it...but i am afraid to kill my pbass...i hate seeing my fish die i dont want them to die anymore....so that is why i am writing on this forum as a safety precaution....so i am sorry for being such a noob...:(

Hey
I'm not sure why the others feel the urge to flame you. We ALL had to start somewhere, RIGHT? While it's true that it does seem you're doing things backwards, you are in the situation that you are in now, so the LEAST ya'll can do is help this kid out. Never mind... I will.
Either get yourself a PYTHON hose from your local fish store and follow the instructions on how to use it. Remove approx. 1/2 of your aquarium's water while "vacuuming" the gravel to remove excess wastes. (If a PYTHON isn't in your budget, do the same using a siphon hose with a vacuum attached, feed it into buckets.) Empty the buckets outside, or down the toilet, or in a big sink.
Refill the tank using water of the same(closely) temp, and with dechlorinator added in the proper dosage. Stress Coat works well. Start Right works well also.

Then, weekly, do a 1/4 water change, and do reduce your feeding. (I personally do larger water changes, but you don't want to stress your fish excessively.) Don't forget to clean out your filter and filter media regularly as well. Good luck. Hope this helps.

thanx you so much i am just starting up this hobby again...i didnt know people can be so rude in here...i mean even if i had a lot of experience i wouldnt flame noobs i would just tell when what they need to know....thanx you so much santoury

Beyond what Santoury states , unplug the heater before taking the water out of the tank. Then do not forget to plug it back in when the tank is again full.

( there are no desirable levels of amonia, nitrite, which need to be zero, and nitrate a bit above zero )

I would suggest you do smaller water changes now, everyday, during a week ( around 10% each day ) instead of doing a major overhaul, ok?:)

I still wonder about the pbass, though..amazing, feisty fish:D :D :D
