First trip to a real LFS

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
late in the game but around here:
Delhezi Bichir: Havn't seen any, they had one bichir for 15$ once but no idea (from me or the guy) what kind.
German Rams: 8$
Bumble Bee Catfish: Have not seen yet.
Gold spot pleco: 75$
Hope your fish all get along, good luck. :3

Thanks :P

Good score man, I would love to get a del at that price locally, but that is a tiny bichir, so I would monitor things closly. I can tell you fro experience a 5" senegal can eat a 2" rainbow shark if it wants to, happen to me 2 months back, I thought he was gonna die from choking but he snaked it down.

Up here i just saw some 2'' german golds for 8 bucks. Blues were 15. Keep an eye on the big chain stores-sometimes they get stuff in and have no idea how to price them. For example, PSS had 6-7'' silver aro's for less than 10!

WOW. I have no tanks to house them but i'd probably purchase them and then go trade them in for credit at a real LFS

Late comer to the thread as well, but here in the NW, Dels (4-6" range go for $35 -40...

I sold mine last week-end for $35 at a solid 6".

I have had great success raising different sized bichirs together, like a 8" senagal with a 2.5" sen, although that one ended up in a uncapped filter uptube, it was never looked at or preyed upon as a food source. Keep the older ons well fed and the younger ones will be fine...

Oh Delhezi's are pretty outgoing in my little experience with mine, they do they're own thing, unlike the senegals, even my blind albino 'bichir piles' with the Palmas Poli and my biggest seng!

Good call on the cory cats, if I wasn't raising a couple oscars in my sand tank, I think they would be a great addition to ANY houshold. The more the better! I have a pair (or trio...) of emerald cory cats that spawned over the weekend, a couple of the eggs stil look viable and , as of last night, nobody has eaten them.

If you can't do picts of the corys, can you describe them?

Wow feel for you guys. I have been visiting ("real LFS's") since about 1968. In my area there have always been mom and pop stores that sell lots of oddballs. Even though the Detriot Lions suck the LFS's don't.

Try to get a delhezi as small as possible but bigger enough not to be eaten, or worst bullied, by your other stocks as the big ones could get pretty expensive. I got a 4 inch for only $18.

Dang. I have a buddy who lives in Charleston and he had to pay $40 for his and the little guy was maybe an inch and a half, so I think I got at least a decent deal on my guy for the area, we're really sparse on LFS and honestly the only other really good LFS i've heard of is in Charlotte and i'm going to check them out over break (though price wise on stock not sure what to expect, i had emailed them and their AC110s were 100 bucks, yikes) - my next inquiry there im going to start considering a catfish to complete my 75 gal, just not sure exactly what kind yet :P

Did they still have the large red tail cats and plecos in the shop? They were in the side room between the fish and other pet section. Which PetSmart are you at?
