Fish cycle??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes, but stick to fishless cycle

that is if you haven't already go the fish in your tank. if you do already have the fish in the tank, you're going to need an ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate test kit and get ready for daily waterchanges for 6 or so weeks

Yeh I would go with a fish less cycle but if u want to test ur water along with test kits I would drop in some silver dollars lol....

i found the best way to cycle a tank is to use a filter that's already been in a cycled tank in the new tank. use the half the water from the old tank too if that's possible and you can have a cycled tank in a day.

adding established tank water does nothing much. search for the endless cycling threads that break down into the fishless vs. fish in cycling people. With all the information available to us these days still doing a fish in cycle from scratch (ie without cycled media or using tetra safestart or whatnot) is pretty ignorant, impatient or lazy.

I agree but would add "innocent & unexperienced" to your list. Some people are innocent, trying to get into the hobby and doing research after having already bought the fish, it happens. I think a lot of us fell into this category when new and there is nothing wrong with that.
