you might mention what they are . . . that would help :D

FWIW, that is a thoricthys aureus, also called "Blue Flash" . . . similar to Firemouths . . . beautiful fish, and I think my LFS has them right now, but I have no room for 'em

not a bad choice, I think . . .

Other suggestions that could stay in a 30g tank.

Sajica-only grow to about 5" but have good color and personality. Males can even get a bit of a nuchal hump. Actually you can't go wrong with most of the cryptoheros complex-nigrofasciatus, spilurus, septemfasciatus, mynae, cutteri, sp. hrp....but sajica is my personal favorite. Some of those might be in the archocentrus genus now...I can't keep up with all the new classifications.

Rainbow cichlid-5" max and incredible coloration. I haven't owned one but I've heard they have great personality.

Salvini-max out at around 6" and have amazining color but not as much personality.

Firemouth cichlid-5-6" and very cool to watch. I love the way they flare their gills to look like two big eyeballs for intimidating other fish.

OP you still there? I noticed you haven't come back since the fifth post....hope we didn't scare you away.

whats wrong with this thread?

the first reply was a blood parrot for a 30gal...

I'm still here :) just researching the possibility's and ideas you guys are giving me. I really appreciate the help!

And yes i do NOT want to upgrade due to limited space in my room, and a fear of ruining the floor with a heavier tank as well. LOL (my room is on the 3ed floor)

no worries . . . just don't let anyone fool you, stick with small to medium-sized cichlids - - seriously, under 6" - - and you won't have any problems

Ya i know, that's why i knew to ask. Iv been a big piranha keeper so chilids are gona be fun and new for me :)
