ok so i was bored yesterday and decided to go to petsmart (nothing around here) i saw a kenyi eating the fins and scales off of another albino something the same size about five in. its obvious they werent being fed they were starving. i turned to the guy taking care of the fish and told him what was happening and with a very sarcastic melotone voice that said i dont give a damn, he replied "oh yea look at that." then he just walked away! what the hell? if that was a cat or a dog people would be going ape ****. then after he walked away some chick walks up and asks me if i need help. there was an untouched version of the beatup one. beautiful fish. white, with a dorsal fin that starts out very light blue and fades into a bright red and a bright yellow tail fin. i was surprised that he was still there. i told her i wanted that one. she says ok let me throw this one away (the beat up one) and ill get you your fish. i said dont worry about it, ill take them both. i was so pissed that she wouldnt give me it free or even with a discount! she was about to kill it! and also at that jerk that did nothing. i know its just a fish, but theres no excuse to just let that happen. so i paid $13 for an almost dead fish and still had a 45min ride home. i got it home and put it in a quarentine tank by itself with some melafix and hes not doing so good. hes swimming upside down which is understandable because the only fin he has left is half of his dorsal fin. for taking such a beating hes still quite energetic. i guess what i need to know is if theres a chance for him since hes upside down and missing his fins and also how long till theyll grow back with the treatment? im patient enough to do it i just want to know. thank you for reading my novel lol.
that is why people exactly do NOT care..

Well I had a labidiochromis recover from no fins or scales left he was just a fleshy bloody lump floating around the tank and I removed him and put him in a community tank with zebra danios, he recovered and developed a very pleasant disposition.

Petsmart actually doesn't feed there fish, atleast not regularly. They use weekend feeders at all the petsmarts around where I went to school.

im lucky that my lfs is run by proffesionals who love fish and really know their stuff.

I have seen a few fish dead in their tanks over the years, mostly due to bullying as the tanks are always clean and tested weekly and always well fed, i have actualy seen them feed the fish a couple of times and they dont just throw in a few flakes etc they feed thema variety of pelets and sinking wafers and ofcourse some of the larger fish get fed live shrimp. It takes them a while but its worth it.

It is pretty disgusting how some pet shops care so little for fish and are quite happy to neglect them and sell you fish on the verge of death at full price...... just wrong.

lol id like to see a reversal, a giant fish walks in a pet store, sees the treatment of the fish and goes to find the manager, gives him a good slapping and throws him in the toilet.

It sucks about your fish it would have been cool if it would have lived. At least you were willing to give it a chance. If i had more tanks I would do the same thing.

i give you props for doing that. i think you should take it back for credit on another fish...and if they give you bs about it. give em hell...tell em what happened how heartless their employees were.

and people wonder why i say people suck!
