Fish hiding? Xilo experience

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So its been 13 days since my first post. I added Giant danios but those seemed to be killed at night. I removed one of the bulbs from my Flouresent fixture to make it less bright. I added a pair of very small convicts. Xilos are still all hiding. I want to do a water change and siphon gravel but am afraid will turn them into bigger panzy's.

I am thinking to remove all decorations during water change and force them out of hiding for a while, not sure what type of negative effects this could have on them.

Xinchavoc- did yours hide alot when it was smaller, almost afraid of everything?

That's too bad. I hope they come out for you, you seem to have tried things that I would for such fish.
The ones you gave me are responding well to addition of fake plants. They think there is something to hide under, and are not easily spooked. I have also removed one complete 36" light strip, so reduced light also has helped I think.
Maybe give them time. How are Convicts behaving, are they hiding also? A calmer fish should get them out.

Yea I was wondering about using suction cups and adding fake plants near the surface as the upper half of my tank is pretty empty. The convicts are full of character and swim around constantly.

I have one bunch of fake plants that I got from Michael's. But my wife does not like them, they are yours if you want to try them out. At about 3 feet high and dense I suspect they will be enough cover for your tank.
Let me know!
