Me either I don't see what people see in them. Boring, unpretty and uninteresting.polypterus
I like bichirs in Blackwater hardscaped tanks but lungfish are my favourite fish! I’m currently saving to get a Aussie lungfish.Me either I don't see what people see in them. Boring, unpretty and uninteresting.
Lungfish fall into the same category.
Those Aussie lungfish are $1000 on livefish. Otherwise you could try Jardini International, one of the only two companies in the world licensed to breed and sell Australian Lungfish. Live fish is the seller of Jardini stuff in Australia. I think Bruce Sambell at Ausyfish is the other breeder. I believe Live fish is run by Bruce’s son Allan. Those Aussie lungfish are $1000 on livefish. Exactly! Like, I get it for the larger fishes, stingrays, axolotls, flowerhorns, all that jazz. But fishes like Bichirs, Cichlids, eels, catfish, ctenopoma, all those guys and more like structure and cover, and are way better off with decor/plants.I don’t have a problem with bare tanks in some situations.
Bare tanks serve their purpose in the hobby. Many keepers of large charicins and arowana keep bare tanks because they just like to ram into decorations and impale themselves. Flower horns can’t have decorations. Stingrays prefer a bare space on the bottom of the tank. Big puffers. Pacu. European perch. Arapima, I find danios don’t really need anything, they tend to have the same level of activity and enrichment in bare.
However most catfish need cover. Bichirs and Australia fish like structure. Knifefish like caves. Cichlids like rocks and cover.
My hot take that i stand by is that in many circumstances, salt tanks are easier than freshWHat are some of your hot takes on fishkeeping? I'll go first!
