o_O guppies and platys can hybridize?!
I shall call them Puppys
I believe guppies, platties, mollies, and swordtails can all interbreed. I know at least some of them can.

well shucks. If that’s the case then you guys might be spot-on with hybrids. I got a family of gold dust/panda platy, 1 male swordtail, and the guppies in the same tank. Now they’re all in the 180gal together with some bettas, corydoras, and a few tetras/barbs/etc.
tons of fry are in there still, as well as otos and rice fish.
Looking to make it a snail/shrimp/oto only tank once they grow out.

Swordtails can't interbreed with the rest that ya mentioned. I believe it's due to them being able to free swap genders while the others cannot. Me personally I do have endler/guppy/molly crosses tho, only have the 2 left out of the 3 I had. 1 is roughly the size of an average young molly with dark brown/gray body color with a blue sheen wrapping over it's sides with some leopard print, the other one I have left is about the same size as an adult platy and has a bright yellow body with a black tail and neon blue tiger stripes running down his sides. Just sucks that I can't breed em because I would love to make more live bearers with that neon blue tiger stripes pattern. I'll post some pics here if anyone wants to see em. Just know that the blue doesn't really show up well on my phone camera. That and these are old pics so the bigger one has changed quite a bit since then.

I don’t think the fry can reproduce, kind of like a mule. It’s the end of the line for breeding if they can produce viable fry.
Yup once they hybridize like that they can no longer breed. Just like a mule or liger. Granted there are exceptions to the rules such as endlers and guppies. Those 2 can freely breed with eachother and still have fertile offspring.

that might be good for me in the long run. They can be more focused on producing fry that won’t produce more fry ?
Then I can maybe end up with awesome looking fish that pop in the galvanized tank. I want bright colored fish since I can only spy on them from the top of the water.
Worse case scenario I could look into feeding the excess ones to my cichlids. Still not familiar with the safety of home-grown feeders and whether it’s good for the fish. That’s another topic though.
