They are open ocean fish, they surface near bits of flotsum or near a reef where "cleaner" fish come and eat their parasites.
 
Yep, they are the heaviest bony fish in the world, maxing out in, I want to say the 5,000 lb range. Monterey has some in their "Outer Bay" exhibit. They've got a pretty cool website. Here's the link...

Mola molas feed mainly on jelly fish, the flesk is soft and tasteless and often heavily infested with worms, they tend to have a strong urine like odor, they are seldom eaten though in some areas young ones are used in soups.
