I have two empty tanks that I cannot decide what to get. My 55 gallon is a standard 48 inch long tank. The 60 gallon is more of a square shape, I can't find my tape measure right now so I don't know the exact dimensions. They are both fully cycled and have a few comets in each to keep up the cycle until I can decide what I want. I'd like the 60 gallon to have a single specimen or pair at max. The 55 is fair game. I was thinking maybe a few Salvinis for the 55 if I can find them around here. My dream fish are giant gourami, clown knife, and pacus but I know my tanks are too small even if combined. I can't upgrade anytime soon unless a cheap tank fell into my lap. So basically they'd have to live in there for at least 5 years (just to play it safe-my husband will be all done with his schooling by then so we could finally afford a large tank). I've kept Africans, various small tetras/danios, and a few different South American cichlids in the past. I am sick of small fish, I want something with some personality. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Grammodes are a great single species tank for the 4' tank!

A few fish combos for the 60 gallon.
2 Female JD's
2Female Green terrors

1 JD, 1 Male convict or fire mouth
1 GT, 1 male convict or fire mouth

1 Oscar 4 silver dollars or 4 giant danios.

The first two are alot heavy on maint. Looking at 2 water changes a week.

The second you can get away with one.

a pair of JD's

maybe a grammode?

Forgot to mention. You could do a pair of JD's but it would require alot of work. Male JD's 8-12 inchs, Female-6-8. This is assuming the JD's do tollerate each other.

I'm liking the sound of one GT for the 55 or several FM. I like the idea of the oscar for the 60, always been a softy for those oscars. :) Two of those fish I'm not familiar with so I'm going to do a bit of research on them. Thanks for the suggestions!

I'd go with a male GT in the 60, maybe a pair?... but those Red Tiger Mota's are AWESOME. Not sure if they color up well without a mate tho...Think the females are the more colorful ones

I'd plant the 55 and add 4 firemouths
