can you put up another pic. at first glance i thought it was a type of flying fox, Epalzeorhynchus kallopterus. but i can't really make out the mouth.

but, after seeing guppy's post i'm probably wrong... it's probably a Leporinus

yeah, guppy is right.

if it was a flying fox it would not have the small fin just in front of the tail

Are they pretty rare? The striatus Leporinus? I have never seen them a The LFS but i ahve seen the normal Leporinus.

It's a Leporinus striatus, as Guppy said. A really nice one...
I don't think they are rare... But the Leporinus fasciatus is caught/ exported more frequently, IMO.
Aside from the colors, they are the same to keep. Lots of fun, lots of intraespecific aggression, sometimes lots of fin-nipping and bites (never had one like this, BTW).
