LOL, i always feel weird when my friends ask me something about my fish i ramble on about the fishes diet, natural habitat, scientific name, etc... And they just look at me like HUH???? But i am proud to be a fish geek.

Yeah I think my friends sometimes ask me "now where are these fish from again" just to get me to go on a little rant about them so they can poke fun later. But I dont mind. I have gotten a few of them into it so far so I am doing something right!

Who hasn't?! lol
All I could think about during the scene when he went to the LFS to check out the chick's wet boobage was the mess of RD/Midas that particular shop has in the row of bowed acrylic tanks. They get some pretty neat stuff aside as well.

i had a fish nerd moment i was watching with my friends and wen he diagnosed the lion fish i was lik malawian fish blot is a gill disorder

i was lik lake malawi is a fresh water lake in africa and bloat has nothing to do with the gills nor was there anything wrong with the lion fish.

did anyone else notice that in deuce bigalo that his 'diagnosis' of the lion fish was wrong? he said it had 'malawian bloat' or something ridiculous like that. i remember watching that scene and thinking 'BULLSH*T' :D

i used to bring some TFH to school to read. pretty soon my classmates were calling me fish boy.

didnt read all of page 2 and reiterated this basically

I manage a LFS.........My whole life is based on FISH NERDOM lol!

a buddy of mine came over to pick up a 'test fish' (giant danio) and some filter media to start off the 50g acrylic I gave him, since he's getting into fish.

he had never seen my setup so when he saw all the bichirs for the first time, he couldn't fathom a fish would ever look like that.

So anyways, my nerdy comment began with listing the scientific names to him: delhezi, lapradei, congeekus, senegalus, etc... and he thought those were their names, he said "oh, those names sound italian" lol

I look at him funny and say "uh, they're latin" lol are there really people out there that have no clue what binomial nomenclature is?

Nicely played sir! I did a double take.

I was around a bunch of military buddies, and we drifted into a conversation about tattoos. Everyone was talking about their tattoos and the best tattoo shops around town. The conversation soon drifted to one particular shop that was considered the best. I had never been to this shop, but heard they had a bad *ss reef tank. When I interrupted the tattooed tough guy conversation with a fish question they started to have fun with me, and call me Duece Bigelow. Then I told them that duece was a dumb*ss, and referenced the malawi bloat diagnosis. They really had fun with me that day. I don't think it gets anymore "fish nerd" than that, but I can't get enough of it.:naughty:
