Hello all,

Thanks in advance for the help!

Tank setup:

46 g bow front
Active flora substrate
Live plants
Driftwood
2 Aquaclear 70 ' s
1 fluval 306
2 powerheads

Stock:

Tetras
Rainbows
Clown loaches
Sturbai corys
1 green Severn
black ghosts
And 5 upside down cats

Issue:

Randomly fish are dying and quite frequently. Lost some clown loaches, elephant noses, tetras, whip tail loricia,
Discus, angels and corys.

Lose about 2 a night

Water changes once a week at 25-30%
Feed 1 time every other day, using kens blood worm flakes, and plankton.

I cannot figure out what im doing wrong. Any ideas?

Note:

Tank might be overstocked but not sure. Total fish count is probably around 20-30 fish.

what are water perams running?

Nitrates usually 5-10pm
nitrites 0 ppm
Ammonia 0 ppm and at worst .25 ppm
PH 6.0-6.5 depending on time of day I test

Start by increasing the percentage of water removed per water change and increase amount of water changes. Discus are sensitive to the water parameters more than any other fish. I do daily 50% on my tanks and advise you either decrease stock or increase water changes. Did you cycle the tank?

Yes, tank was previously a 35 cube. Used all that water plus all filter media and just added 11 gallons of fresh water. I will decrease stock and up the water changes. More concerned about the fact that corys are dying as I know they can be impossible to kill. Is it possible that the Green severum or upside down cats are getting nasty?

I am sorry but from what I am reading, its a water quality issue IMHO, as stated up the water changes and keep them consistent.

I have had allot of the fish you mention,. had a 75g, with 36 average fish count. I was losing 5 to 10 a week. I switched up my water changes to 90% a week, never lost a fish for over a year from then on.

Okay I was afraid to do so much but I'll definitely give it a shot. I want to go purchase a few 3" discus tomorrow so
