Fish reccomendations Part 2

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
welp ! the University exam is in less than two months and we still havent dropped the idea of having a bigger aquarium. After the exam there is a 1 month period for the results to come out. So basically in around 3 months maybe more maybe less, we will get a 120 cm long 45 cm wide and tall tank. So far already got plenty of fish in my 40 Gallon (still want to add more but need the new tank for that, today saw a small Featherfin Synodontis and I REALLY wanted to get it). They are all healthy and happy. Bichirs are growing fast compared to their photos when I first got them. Can post picks If you want !

I was silent for few months now because few things, studying for my University entrance exam and some others. Got some bad news... After some talks with my parents we decided to not get a new aquarium. The reason was that my parents wanted a more handleable pet and were not warm to the idea of having a 3rd tank.
The options were cats, birds or reptiles and we decided on reptiles. My mother disliked snakes and since we live in an apartment birds would be too noisy. She liked Lizards so we are going to get a Leopard Gecko.
On the other hand, all my fish are doing fine ! My 2 Bichirs are growing way slowler now that they reached a certain size and I had no deaths whatsoever. I will post updates as soon as I am done with studying.

If your Mum wants a handleable pet, can't go past a bearded dragon. My Mother loves my boy and I think she cares for him more than me! Leopard geckos wouldn't be best for handling, being geckos, but they will tolerate a small amount of handling. Bearded dragons on the other hand, you can walk around the house with them on your shoulder.

Was my first idea too but my country has literally 0 breeders. Leos we have more.

Where are you located? I'm shocked that there isn't any there
Ah well... Thing is here selling of reptiles in petshops is banned. Reason is that the climate is suitable for certain invasive species. Which means that most pet shops font even bother to sell reptile equipment. I had to find a Breeder to get one. Bearded Dragons arent as popular here. Most people breed snakes or things like Leopard Geckos. I live in Turkey. Funny thing is we also have few native species like Schneider Skinks that make great pets .

Beardie would get pretty big very fast, and you would need a very big enclosure.
I’d also look into crested gecko while at it. They don’t need any heating (they thrive at room temperature) and need pretty moderate humidity (50-70%). Perhaps the easiest lizard out there. They are also very tame and most don’t mind handling.

We did look into Crested Geckos, my mother decided on the Leos when comparing the two because she loved the Leo colours. We already have a custom built glass terrarium ready ! If people want I can post the stuff at the Other Pets page haha.
