Not to be a negative nancy but if you are still in school federal law prohibits you from working more than 16 hours a week during the school year and it only goes up to 20 hours a week if you are 16-17. Petco pays close to minimum wage which is $7.25. So lets say Petco pays $8/hr. During the school year you can only make $128 a week before taxes. After taxes you are only going to be taking home about $100 a week. And if Petco is not close to home, gas costs are going to eat a very large portion of that money.

During the summer you can work 40 hours a week which equals about $240 a week in take home pay.

i was thinking the same thing. ive worked since i was 14 1/2 and ive never made enough money to get that many tanks making over minimum wage. i have a full time job now and i could afford those tanks but the water bills/food/electricity would probably be out of my budget.

lol the taxes that the state and federal government take out of every check you make. i used to be like that seeing only what i make but believe me it sounds alot easier and you think you will have alot more money than you actually will in most cases. im not trying to offend you or tell you you cant do it but i can tell you first hand its going to be a strain with only a part time job at low pay. unless you have thousands saved up and your parents are going to pay all of the bills and not just part of them its going to be very hard. please dont take it in the negative way because i personally hate when people tell me i cant do somthing i am just saying its alot easier to see on paper. you also have to take into account food you have to buy all the fish, lighting fixtures, heaters, filtration, air circulation etc. theres alot more to do and buy than just the tanks and drop fish in.

alright well like i said im not saying not to do it and that you cant, but GL with your idea! i plan on having a fish room too but not for a while. i would draw it up like the other guy said, that may influence some decisions. also take into account measurements of the tanks and the room because theres nothing i hate more than planning something and it being messed up because i forgot to measure something.
