i am so peeved right now the manager of the petland here told me that a certain fish would go okay in my 55g here which has a male zebra and a female zebra and 9 electric blue johani so i put the three nice display fish i got from him in there after thinking real hard about it for three weeks

they looked like this last night

when i put them in they looked like this

and in only a few hours the male zebra did a butcher job on the biggest one of the three and the other two are so freaked out i was able to move them to my 75g geo tank here but im sure im gonna lose the biggest one

lesson learned is this DO NOT LISTEN TO THE LFS EMPLOYEES AS FOR THE MOST PART THEY DONT KNOW THEIR BUTT FROM A HOLE IN THE GROUND

:nutkick: HE IS SO GONNA GET IT TOMORROW WHEN I GO THERE IM ACTUALLY MOST UPSET ABOUT HOW THIS CRAZY NICE FISH JUST GOT MURDERED DUE TO THIS IDIOTS ADVICE :irked:

sorry to hear it.

that sucks man.

though i would have to say my red zebra is a pimp all the ladies in the tank are always carrying he never stops

so i guess he just had to show the big bad boy who wore the pants in the tank really a shame though those three were on display for so long at the store till they just redid the tank and i was able to get them

right now im tryin something with him to see if he can revive at all i have him suspended in my big net right in the midst of one of the filter flows and it seems like he has revived a bit im gonna spend all night watching him hope he makes it if he does his name is gonna be rocky

well minimal gill function and his mouth has done the death open a couple of times so time to put him out of his misery

im gonna have to call that zebra dolph for the way he did the dolphin ram on this fish

man that fish dude is so gonna get it

I work in a Petland and most of our employees aren't this stupid. I'd recommend e-mailing some of our training officers or going straight to the store manager of your Petland.

thanks

i just feel totally sick about having to put down such a beauty fish i dont even really care about the money i spent on it

Sometimes it does happen though, if they were in the actual Petland corporation the manager SHOULD have known better, considering we keep pretty good observations of our fish.

I've worked in a few LFS, and honestly; Petland is the best one I've been to. We actually have courses and we actually go through quite a bit of training, and most of the people (atleast in my Petland) are actually interested and hobbyists aswell.

I used to work in my fish section, but I was moved up to management a bit ago.

Just approach their manager or supervisor on shift, be calm, and please don't overeact. The last thing any of us (including you!) want is a big scene with a yelling match. Some people really do work there just for the money, but others just want to educate.

Talk to the manager, tell them what happened; most likely he/she won't know anything about fish, but just explain to them how the two species don't mix, that their fish manager should have known that they had aggressive fish. Sometimes, it really isn't their fault though :).

no worries on the yelling thing not really my bag i just like to use the smileys :p

ill just make sure to tell them tomorrow that they christyi that they sold me did not go well in the tank

now im hoping that my geos dont go missing over night as i now have to fish with very very big mouths in a 75g that was never meant to hold them

this is one of the sites i looked at to get info on this fish
http://www.malawicichlidhomepage.com/panis/aristochromis_christyi.htm

i just have a bad image in my mind that one of my geos is gonna meet the fate of the fish in the group of four pictures man what a mouth

i have about 20 spare tanks in my basement so i will get crackin on setting up one for the two remaining christyi till i can get a tank up here for them
