What type of NLS are you using? Thera will have a garlic smell to it. Also NLS is really concentrated so a little will go a long way. Cut back on your feeding at least in half. What and how many fish in the tank also sizes/

Invest in a test kit and test your water. All fish keepers should have at least the basic tests in their cupboard.
The best tests are the liquid ones, you should buy at least these 3;
Ammonia (NH4 NH3)
Nitrite (NO2)
Nitrate (NO3)
or you can go for the all in one style dip strips but these are not as accurate but simple to use and better than nothing.

What kind of substrate you have ? Fine sand or coarse & what depth ?
