Hello,
i live in germany and here is very little information about acryl aquariums and what kind of fish can damage the glas an what kind of fish can't.
The only species which is known to definetly does make some scratches in the glass are Panaque, and most likely any larger Plecos which are known for eating wood and rough plants.
But how about other fish which are known for eating on the typical brwon and green algae we all find sometimes in our tanks?
1. Crossocheilus siamensis, especially known for eating those black nasty hairy algae, are those little fish capable of scratching acryl?
2. Crossocheilus reticulatus, also known for eating those black hairy algae, but do it better than the classic striped version, i don't know if this one touches green and brown algae as well.
3. Crossocheilus latius, this one got a mouth like a pleco and is definetly good at erasing brown algae, but really tough green and black algae does survive
4. Gyrinocheilus aymonier, well it gets the **** done, not the black but afaik any other algae, but it also damages pfants as well and sometimes rips of thr skin of fish, i guess it could scratch acryl too, since it i pretty big.
5. Myxocyprinus asiaticus, probably the biggest, i don't know which kind of algae it eats, but i guess its big enough to damage acryl as well.
And how about the more carnivor plecos? Does Pseudacanthicus cf. leopardus damage acryl or might he be save thing because even he got i quite similiar mouth like his plant eating brothers, he does not have the teeth to scratch acryl?
Greetings
