Clown loaches.

Grow a few to 12" and you're set.
As long as it pays for the electricity, water changes, and food/

Typically fish that are exponentially more expensive as adults are slow growers.

that's about right.. :D

But i hear that even a big silver aro wont get more than $50 for a one thats 24"......I have 2 senegals and 1 ornate bichir.....how much do you think they are worth full grown? Thanks

I sold a 30" silver for $75. but the same day sold a 12" ardini for the same.

-stingrays
-discus
-black/asian arowanas + jardini, lei
-dats
-clown loaches
-piranha
-fancy plecos
-etc.

my uncle grows out fish to sell (he has a real job, does this on the side), once he sold his whole collection of discus for $300, and made a profit on an asian arowana by $200

Hope your uncle isn't in MI too.

Someone told me that full grown piranhas are a super tough to get rid of. Plus my LFS has a clown loach thats about 6" for $60...this a good deal?

Yes they are b/c they are so common. I took a HUGE loss on a group of 13 around a year ago.

I saw a clown loach about 12" at Aquarium Adventure in Columbus several weeks ago. He was really expensive. I don't remember how much, but he was already sold when I saw him, just waiting to be picked up.

Yeah, I always go to the one near me! They have the best displays I've ever seen for a store. Also, they carry the rarer fish such as aros, rays, dats, and a good selection of cichlids.

i'l def agree with dats, rays, clown loaches, discus a few that i've noticed while looking also calvus, harder to get synos, fire eels, bgk, roseline sharks, prochilodus,

and ignorant people just LOVE around 12'' ID sharks.

indeed awesome store....until it's time to pay for stuff
True story. I hope they do the big end of the summer sale again. I should be able to make it on the first day this time, instead of a few days in when hardly anything cool is left. I got like 65% off the fish I did get though. I'm really happy with the flagtail I got, and even happier I didn't pay $50 for it like they were originally asking

Ornates, and other bichir's, like lapradei and endli's are usually worth more when bigger. They also grow pretty quick.

koi of course. but they seem to be the exception to the rule. any indoor fish tend to go towards the free level once they hit a certain size most people simply can't house them.
