Just filled up my new pond that was suppose to be a tank, and am praying it wont leak... And I was thinking of the merits of tank v pond and what fish look like from above, then noticed my Colombian Blue Flame Tetras look fantastic from above, as their neon line is along their backs and you see the deep red on their tails as they swim! A big shoal would look ace in a pond especially under a blueish light!

Anyone else now any fish that look real good from above, as you dont hear of many...

Koi, any aro, rtc, tsn, pacu, plecos, gars, any top dwelling fish usually looks good from above

most catfish, bichirs, arowanas, pacu, gars, koi...

catfish, pleco, black moors and telescope goldfish, koi, pretty much any color fish, but then again i am one that like to look down on the blugills/sunfish in a pond and say how cute.

I agree most catfish koi, and goldfish look amazing from above. The bottom dwelling fish are designed flat intead of tall, and you get a great view from above which is how they are designed.

Stingrays! Arowanas in 2nd for me. Then I would have to say plecos or a catfish. I think bottom dwellers and top dwellers would be your best bet for looks. Maybe some koi in the middle (if you can manage the temp at a nice 76 you might be able to keep them all happy).

Good luck.

Koi were made to be viewed from above. But they need alot of room. How big is your pond?

The pond ended up smaller than it was suppose to be too. Its 200gallons. Ahh well, it appears to be holding water which is enough for a first attempt!!! It did only cost £60 though and a 200gallon koi tub at the LFS is £250 so not done too bad.
