Fish to go with Bichirs

What type of fish do you guys have, that have sucessfully live with your Bichirs? My ornate has become very "nasty" as hes gotten bigger towards protecting his area and i'm wondering if there another type of fish that i'll be able to put with him? Please let me know,

Clown knife work for me, with senegals i have kept severums without problems, but one of my ornates got the best of them :grinno:
 
Howbig is the tank?
 
I wouldn't try to add tankmates till you get a much bigger tank.The ornate claimed territory and defends it.the ornate will/should reach 18-24 inches any tankmates will have to be large also you're looking at a tank bigger than 100 gallons -Anne
 
I have a big marble goby in my 75g with a 12 inch Senegal, 10 inch Palmas Poli, 10 inch Ornate, and a 5 inch albino senegal and 5 inch weeksii. Also have a common plego and a silver cat. They have lived in peace in my tank for years. I just give them a ton of caves and cracks to hide in and they leave each other alone. Hard to tell but I think the big Senegal is the only male. That might be why they are so chill.
 
Surprisingly.... I find Oscar to be the most durable type of tankmates..

They dont really quite kill tankmates.. but they can defend themselves..

I keep a 8" Oscar with one of my more aggressive FH at 5" and so far.. the two get along fine...

But i know most people dont like oscars.... so they never try it.. But Oscar fish do very well with Bigger fish.... assuming they are about the same size.. and the Oscar doesnt become food....
