I used my fish as a pick up line to get my wife. I hand feed them. Now I swim with them. They are hilarious. Especially my oscars, and my giant catfish. The catfish lets me pet him, plays with a ball, and can catch his food on top of the water like no other. I wowed the neighbors and all their kids the other day by tossing shrimp on top of the water and the fish would sometimes catch them before they hit the water. I find it's easier to do this with catfish because they stick their whiskers out of the water. You really find out just how much personality fish can have when you keep them in ponds vs. tanks. Much more interaction. My wife plays with them all the time while I am gone. They come to the top to be petted even when they are stuffed to the max, and they don't swim away. I'll have to find a link that stotty posted of a girl petting her catfish to show you guys. I find my wife's dogs rather annoying, and the fish are always inviting, and have yet to be bitten by a fish besides one that was just insane. Fish win in my strange world, and I was sick to my stomach when I lose fish. Oh and some fish are just as expensive as dogs. Look at tigs. They can run you $250-$1000 depending on availibility and size of the fish.
