Nothing like sleeping with 8 rays for a head board.sometimes they wake me up.
I've always wondered how that would look. Do you have any photos of the setup?

I have the big tank down past the foot of the bed. There's a couch at the foot, some space, the tank (atop a dresser), some more space, then the closet. It's really nice because it also makes a barrier blocking view of the messy piles of clothes in the closet. But I am limited to 72"x18" with this setup. If I made it a headboard I could go 2' deep. I'm just not sure if I could pull it off.

The other two tanks are in the big open kitchen/dining/living area. The planted tank gets constant quick glances as it shares the wall with the TV and is visible from all couches and everywhere in the dining area and kitchen. The African cichlids are more in the corner and only visible from the table, but I work there, so they really end up getting the most attention overall, since whenever I stop to think or space out they're right in front of me.

So I'm around my fish 24/7, which is pretty cool. I try to get to bed early enough to sit there and watch the big tank for a while before lights out every night too. Sitting up in bed with the laptop or a book and watching the fish is nice and relaxing and helps me fall asleep.

I nornally don't watch my aquariums for a long period of time in one sitting. I check on them frequently during the day though. I'm always checking to see what my fish are up to. Since it's tons of short periods, I can't really guess how much time total.

Same here. Out of 13 tanks I don't have a single "show tank." My tanks aren't very peaceful to watch either. The one I have upstairs that gets a lot of attention tries to attack anything that moves within 10 feet of his tank. Hes always trying to get attention and he usually does.

Ugh I am so jealous of you guys. I watch my guys as much as I can but they are in the dining room, because my roomates wont let me have them anywhere else . . . and there is almost always someone partying outside of my sliding glass door (in the same room) so I dont like to be in there much. I decided I have had enough though and I am moving it into the living room so that I can watch my babies more :D

If I am home I seem to be watching them. So much sometimes that my college classes suffer, lol :) There are many nights that I do not realize it is 3 or 4 am because I am dazing off at my fishes. Yeah I would say it's a bit of an obsession.

i watch my fish wheneven i can. my fishes are in my parents house since i work away on the remote construction site.

it is always a constant nightmare to come back to a murky aquarium (e.g. curtain not closed = direct sunlight = greeeeeeeen tank)

i had my 55 gal with my oscar as my headboard, when she was hungry she would splash real loud and sometimes spit water at me

Ha! just last night, my O kept jumping and knocking the aquarium lid, waking me up. I know it was because I fed him less than usual (trying to break my bad habit of overfeeding him)! that spoiled, fat bastard!

oh, back to the subject of the post, I watch my fish quite a bit. its tough to resist the temptation to feed, though.

anyway, its quite relaxing, watching fish.
