Depends on how much attention you pay to it. But like i said, if you go with a smaller breed such as demekin or a variety pearlscale you can comfortably keep a pair.you think I can keep a single gold fish in a 29 without them being lonely or anything?
You could also add some peaceful tetras, which do good with Bettas, my friend kept:1 male betta, a couple guppies,a couple black window tetras,a juvenile creek chub,1glo light tetra, and a Chinese algae eater in his 29 gal,and everyone got along fine1 male Betta fish. He will be happy in a tank that size all by himself.

Yes, but their wild diet includes more insects.Ok thanks for all the suggestions, I think I'll do either shell dwellers, a dwarf pike cichlid, or a school of rummynose and red eyed tetras with 10-20 otocinclus and cories, would a dwarf pike cichlid eat live guppies (that I breed on my own)
ok, yeah I was just going to feed him what I feed my current 29 gallon tank, blood worms, brine shrimp, worms, and freeze dried krill, but I was going to add in the occasional guppy, cricket (if I can find them), some live shrimp, and some sort of pellet foodYes, but their wild diet includes more insects.
