as of rn theres no improvement in swimming capabilities and it's laying on its side all the time. However, its eating at very least when i drop pellets in front of its face. it would move a bit like a halibut and take pellets. few days ago i fed live fish and it was able to eat as well when the goldfish comes in attack range. color looks normal and aside from not being able to swim and crippled it aint too bad as of rn
if you don't mind answering. Did it eventually pass away due to the trauma or was it able to keep surviving but with moving difficulties?Sucks to hear it’s laying on its side. A friend’s peacock bass hit its head getting spooked and was the same way…laid on the floor and only scooted around in spurts or to eat. Sorry to say, it didn’t get better. Hope yours does
It actually lived a long while that way and probably could have kept going but my friend felt its quality of life wasn’t good and euthanized it with clove oil. Also, I thought it hit its head but my buddy said it actually got rammed on the side by a larger bass and thinks it might have gotten its air bladder popped. He said he tried epsom salt and just waited it out but it never got better. Maybe you might want to wait it out likeif you don't mind answering. may i ask how long exactly did it manage to live for and did it grow like normally or did the injury stunt its growth as well.It actually lived a long while that way and probably could have kept going but my friend felt its quality of life wasn’t good and euthanized it with clove oil. mine is the exact same case as your friends. OFR's arowana is at least still able to float. IDK whats the best solution for me rn cuz i leave for college soon and stuff might happen when im gone. im also dont got the courage to kill a fish thats trying to surviveHe only let kept it that way for about a month or so before using clove oil. Was eating but it always had abrasions from laying on the ground and scooting around so my friend made the decision based on quality of life.
However, like Hukit shared, Ohio Fish Rescue has a silver aro with a severely bent back and it’s been that way for years and still doing great.
