Theory;
If oscars were rare, most of the same people who dislike them would suddenly want them. Disclaimer: I'm not pointing the finger at anyone here who hates O's. I'm not crazy about them myself and have no intention of owning another one.

transversely, If zebra plecos were as common as neon tetras, people wouldn't care one tenth as much about them as they do now.

Coveting :drool:
vs. appreciation :)

I agree with this, and I think many people will say they don't like oscars due to how common they are. Oscars are very unique looking cichlids with great personality IMO, if they were rare then a lot of the members would agree and want one. It is not the fish's fault is is common anyway.

I can't see how anybody could hate natives though :screwy:. I would love to own a pickerel :)

I don't get that either, natives is pretty broad. I mean, when you say natives you are talking about every fish in a single country or continent...that is a lot of fish.

Not necessarily. My ex disliked an Oscar the first time she saw one.

Thats human nature. Love it or leave it but people usually want whats hard to get.

The Fire eels and the same type of "eels" with that pointy snout. They do not appear to be eels vs. the ones I see with the rounded nose. They do not appeal to me. Maybe it's the concept. I also dont like fish that hardly ever swims. I like fish that swims alot, and if the fish just sits there all day long, and never moves. I tend to get bored with it, not that it's a problem with the fish, but more like my impatience. :) Cool thread!

Anything that doesnt grow over 12 inches.

:ROFL:

With feeders being an excepetion ;)

I hear ya. That does not really apply to me...I keep bluntnose and fathead minnows for crying out loud...I didn't even have to pay for them they are so common. :D

reweedon....I thougt I didn't like rapheals when I had one because I never saw him, now that I got ridof him I want him back. Seeing him was exciteing and he was neat looking when he was out and about. I would forget about him and BAM...there he was, like finding money in your pocket.
