If you have even one kid, you're over populating the world. Just being alive in this day and age means you're over populating the world.

I mentioned earlier that humanity is the root cause of the planet's eventual crapping out. So far the poeple on this thread who's opinions are against the seal being shot have made good points but didn't suggest a viable solution , myself including.

Nativelover , who is among the poeple on here who sympathise with the shooter , sadly has brought up the only real solution the general public is willing to bear and that's culling. Given the fact that everything on this planet is an exploitable resource , and given the fact that resources that were around for billions of years are going up in smoke in a few short centuries ; competition from any non human species for a primary resource thereby makes them an expendable species. We as a disorganized, unilateral , independantly opinionated and uncompromising species will be faced with the inevitable "lesser of two evils" scenerio , of which species get's to live or die , dependant on their usefulness to humanity.

"whos down for WWIII? that would pretty much do it." -NativeLover

While I'm not against culling or the shooter's actions out of sentiment for the animal , like it may be for some of you who share my view , I'm trying to illuminate both parties on it's connection to the preservation of our species.

I accept the fact the we don't comprehend (or will ever begin to) the function of every organism on the planet , and their role in maintaining nature's status quo. And ladies and gentleman were are seriously "effing" with the status quo. It's because of this blatent and morbid truth that when the day comes we have to stamp out an entire species (and it will) in order to protect another species that aids in our survival and continuity , don't fool yourselves into thinking that it's in the name of our preservation , because all that we're doing, if anything at all, is adding to borrowed time.

I'll qoute something i heard in a movie that further illustrates my meaning.

"I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species. I realized that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You move to an area, and you multiply, and multiply, until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet, you are a plague, and we are the cure. " - from the Matrix

pretty much says it. If we as one don't accept that we need to be moderated , we will not continue. But that's neither convenient nor viable.

We all know that the root cause is man's never ending expansion of our "ways of life". Wildlife management is and always will be the correct answer to keeping the "balance" of overabundant wildlife. Unlike the ocean, Sea lions have no known natural predators to keep the population down (150 miles up river from the pacific) so I guess it is up to the evil human to take that role.....

Just chum the area constantly to attract some tiger sharks. lol

Sea Lions in many areas are out of control and should be managed just like any other species. What the guy did is not right, but the way Sea Lions are managed on the West Cost of the U.S. is not right either! I would contribute to a fund for his defense!

then what could you do about the sea lions?
dump them somewhere else where they would then become a pest again?

No offense taken...knowledge is more often than not applied with ignorance...

here's the underlying concern: a guy like this with such a temper carries a gun. what would he do if another human ticked him off? it's obvious that the man has some deep-seeded, anger management problems and is dangerous.
